Born in Johannesburg in 1963, I have been drawing and painting from an early age. I was schooled at Durban Girls’ College, where I achieved awards in Art and Creative writing, winning first place in the Royal Commonwealth Essay Competition in 1979.

I studied architecture at The University of KwaZulu-Natal, and was a member of the 1982 first year class, the first racially diverse class with an enrolment of 50% women.

I received first class passes in Architectural Design, and this was acknowledged in being awarded joint first place in two national architectural competitions in 1986. I had a busy and successful career in Durban, Stellenbosch and Cape Town, and was invited to become the first woman associate at KMH Architects after my work on the five star Mount Nelson Hotel

After moving to Luxembourg in 1998, I chose to return to drawing and painting while raising a family. Enjoying the freedom from grid and line, but still grounded in architecture, I chose to depict my experience of the landscape and environment of my new European surroundings- capturing the "Spirit of Place" on canvas.

In 2008 our family relocated to Switzerland, and I started working on a series of gladiola portraits, inspired by the blooms I found at the self-pick plots in our village in Aargau.

Our family relocated to Graubünden in 2020, and I have completed a number of works depicting the alpine environment, attempting, through the moments of awakening I experience, to capture the spirit of Graubünden on canvas. I offer slices of mountain light and air, as reminders of our deep connections to the natural world.
